Subscriber agreement
Latest amendment on 4/18/2025: "Mobile phone information will NOT be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. By registering you are agreeing to receive SMS/Text messages for internal use only such as member meeting reminders and renewal notices."
Plain words, binding terms. This page is the Detroit Women Leaders Association subscriber agreement. Read it. Keep a copy. Then decide. The sections are short on purpose, but short does not mean any less binding.
1. Basics
Who is "we"? The Detroit Women Leaders Association. "Us" and "our" mean the same.
What is "Content"? Every seminar, conference, webinar, eBook and eDocument we publish, plus any other item you stream or download here. We publish all of it.
What is this page? A legally binding contract. It controls how you may use the Content. We call it the "Agreement".
Who owns things? We do, or our licensors do. That covers the intellectual property in the Content and in the website itself.
Tip: save a copy for your files.
2. Saying Yes
You were asked to accept these terms. That happened before your first visit to the Content as a subscriber, or in a confirmation e-mail sent later. It happens again whenever your subscription renews.
There is more. Every visit to the Content counts as a fresh yes. So glance at section 10 to spot any update since you last came by.
Don't agree? Then stay away from the Content. The same goes if you lack authority to agree for your business or job.
3. Ownership
Copyright, database rights, every other intellectual property right in the Content: ours or our licensors'.
"Detroit Women Leaders Association" is our trade mark. You need our written permission to use it.
4. Allowed
You get a non-exclusive right. It is for your own legitimate personal or business use. Within that, you may:
- pull up and watch or read Content on any compatible device; and
- if a download is offered, keep one copy on a storage device that is yours alone, like a USB drive. Not a shared drive. Not a shared server. Not anything hooked to a network.
5. Off-Limits
Neither you nor anyone you let in may:
- go past the uses in section 4 by copying, reproducing, broadcasting, transmitting, modifying, abstracting, making derivative works from, storing, archiving, aggregating, publicly displaying, redistributing, sharing, forwarding, licensing, sub-licensing, publishing or selling Content, or cashing in on it in any commercial way;
- hand your username, password or other access details (your "ID") to any person or third party;
- let several users run on one ID, on a network, inside an organization, anywhere;
- delete copyright or trade mark notices from Content;
- frame, harvest or scrape Content, or try anything like it; or
- use Content for something unlawful.
We can watch how any Service is used. Break these rules and the Detroit Women Leaders Association may suspend your access or cancel your subscription.
THE DETROIT WOMEN LEADERS ASSOCIATION RESERVES ALL ITS RIGHTS UNDER THIS SUBSCRIBER AGREEMENT WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO ITS OTHER RIGHTS AT LAW, APPLICABLE COPYRIGHT LEGISLATION INCLUDED.
6. Accounts
One subscription. One user. Always.
Bought through work? Then you also accept these terms for the company or organization that employs or engages you. You and it are both on the hook for proper use. Each person there needs a separate subscription.
Your ID is your responsibility. Anything done with it, by you or anyone else, is on you. Guard it against misuse.
Sign-up needs true, full details about you. Keep them current by writing to Service@WomanLeaders.org.
Want a new ID? Think your ID or payment details were exposed, stolen or misused? Tell us right away at Service@WomanLeaders.org.
We aim to handle sign-ups fast. Still, we can't promise the Content will reach you by any set time after purchase.
7. Money
Plans vary. We may sell several tiers or types of subscription, each with its own Content and services. Which one you bought will be clear at checkout. We may change the Content, the services or any tier at any time.
Payment terms and plan lengths may vary too. You'll see them when you subscribe.
Give us full, correct payment details. You pay the prices in effect on your sign-up date. Use a card only if you're entitled to buy with it; by submitting it you promise you are.
Late payment, no authorization, or an authorization later cancelled or refused? We may suspend access or end the subscription on the spot.
Prices are in US dollars. Applicable taxes may be added.
8. Renewal and Exit
Annual plans roll over for another year. To stop that, tell us before the current year ends. Renewals go on the same card or payment method you used last time.
Your plan can start the moment we accept your order. You agree to that when ordering. So once you have access, a change of heart earns no refund.
Apart from that point, you can't cancel any part of your plan before the current period ends. You may tell us you plan to cancel whenever you like. It only kicks in at period end. No refund follows, except in the narrow cases these terms list.
To cancel, write to our Customer Services team: Service@WomanLeaders.org.
Our side: breach these terms and we may suspend or end your plan, with or without notice, owing you nothing more. Events beyond our control that stop us serving you can also lead us to suspend or end it.
Refunds when we pull the plug: if we end your plan for any reason, and/or permanently stop publishing Content or stop offering subscriptions, you get a pro rata refund to your credit card unless there are exceptional circumstances. That means money you prepaid for the unused, unexpired part of your plan comes back.
9. Liability
Slow down here. This part sets out how far, if at all, we take responsibility (liability) for your use of the Content.
You get the site and Content "as is" and "as available".
We are not liable for things beyond our reasonable control. Not for the internet. Not for acts of God. Not for what third parties do.
Use outside this Agreement? Not our responsibility. Paid no fee? Then we have no liability to you for the site or Content.
No promises on availability, quality, security, completeness or accuracy. No promise of freedom from viruses or similar.
Our one promise: we'll try to build the Content and run the site with reasonable skill and care, and make reasonable efforts to fix faults we learn of.
The Content is general information for general use. It isn't tailored to you. It isn't advice, a recommendation, a representation or an endorsement. Don't rely on it to make, or hold off on, any business, investment or other decision.
AS FAR AS APPLICABLE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, REPRESENTATIONS, CONDITIONS AND DUTIES OF EVERY KIND, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF SATISFACTORY QUALITY, MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
IF WE OWE YOU ANYTHING, FROM YOUR USE OF THE CONTENT OR OTHERWISE UNDER THIS AGREEMENT, IT IS DIRECT DAMAGES ONLY, CAPPED AT WHAT YOU PAID FOR YOUR SUBSCRIPTION.
THESE SECTION 9 LIMITS PROTECT THE DETROIT WOMEN LEADERS ASSOCIATION, ITS AFFILIATES, AND ALL OF THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS.
One exception to all of this. Nothing here shuts out or reduces our liability for death or personal injury from negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything the law says can't be limited or excluded.
10. Updates
Published October 18, 2026. Effective now. It replaces the earlier subscriber agreement immediately.
We may revise these terms now and then. When we do, the date goes here. Check back often.
11. Disputes
Georgia law governs. Specifically, the laws of the State of Georgia, United States of America, ignoring conflict or choice of law rules.
You and we agree: the state and federal courts located in Atlanta, Georgia have jurisdiction to enforce an arbitration award and to grant urgent interim relief in any dispute arising out of, under or in connection with this Agreement.
Any legal action tied to your subscription, or to using or buying our products or services, goes to binding arbitration in Atlanta, Georgia, run by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules or, where they apply, its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The filer (plaintiff) pays all filing and hearing costs of the arbitration. Where applicable law or the applicable American Arbitration Association rules do not permit this, arbitration fees and costs are allocated as set by those rules. Each side pays its own legal fees.
12. Fine Print
- Transfers: you can't assign, sub-license or pass on your rights here. We can assign our rights, or hand off our duties and obligations, to a third party without asking you, as part of a reorganization, merger, consolidation, asset sale or similar deal.
- Bad clause: if a competent court strikes down one provision, the rest stays fully in force.
- No waiver: if either side doesn't use a right or remedy, that right or remedy is not given up.
- Headings: just for convenience. No legal meaning or effect.
- Whole deal: as to the Content, this is the complete agreement between you and the Detroit Women Leaders Association. It overrides all prior agreements, communications, representations and arrangements, written or oral.
- Questions or complaints about the Service: Service@WomanLeaders.org.
